Being a teenager, it’s hard. Epsecially when you’re parents rarely give you any kind of freedom to just be kids and have fun. They think we’re “too young” for this and that. Too young to know what love is. Too young to even fall in love. Too naive to understand reality, to understand what’s really out there in the world, to learn from our mistakes. But that’s when they’re wrong.. They claim they can read us like a book but they can’t. They don’t understand that we do know these things. We’re exposed to reality daily. We experienced the good & the bad, the happy & the sad. We make mistakes, we learn from it. Our hearts get broken but only to grow stronger each time. We know more than they think & that’s why some of them put so much restriction on their kids.. Because they’re afraid that we’ll get hurt, that we’ll turn out badly, that we don’t know what’s best for us.. That we don’t know anything at all. I feel like the more they restrain their kids, the more rebellious & resentful they’ll get.. the less they’ll be prepared for the real world when they’re out there by themselves. Trust is what they lack in their kids. This is just my opinion.. My rant. I can’t stand it anymore. The ability to have freedom & still be trusted by my parents is all I want. Don’t we all?
